Safeguarding the Older Person

A project to raise awareness; to provide information; and to support older people who are at risk of mistreatment or who have been abused.

StOP is funded by Comic Relief as part of a three year pilot progamme on elder abuse.  CARM's StOP project is focussed on safeguarding older people and has three main aims:
  • To raise awareness of the mistreatment and abuse of older people;
  • To offer one-to-one support to older people at risk of, or experiencing mistreatment and abuse;
  • To provide information and training to those working with older people, particularly volunteers and paid workers in the voluntary sector, about how to spot the signs of abuse and what to do about it.

The project holds regular Information Sessions at different locations around Ashford and Shepway districts.  These are half-day and free of charge thanks to funding from Help the Aged.  For details of forthcoming dates please ring CARM's office on 01233 758122 or click on the link below to send an email.  We will then contact you once dates are fixed.
