Well-Being at Home

A home visiting service for people who are socially isolated and unable to leave their home without assistance

The Well-Being at Home service provides a regular volunteer visitor for people unable to leave home without assistance and who are therefore socially isolated.  We prioritise visiting those who live alone and who do not use day services.

The service covers all of Ashford and Shepway districts, with CARM providing the service on Romney Marsh and the surrounding areas, and Ashford and Shepway Volunteer Centres providing the service in the rest of the two districts.

Visits are weekly or fortnightly, for an hour or two, and provide the person we visit with a chance to have a chat and have someone who has the time to listen.

Our volunteers have a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check and are given an induction and on-going support by a paid Service Co-ordinator.

"Why do I like being a volunteer? I feel privileged to be a visitor as I enjoy meeting people and it is often very humbling to learn about people's lives in times past. It is very rewarding when you visit someone to see the pleasure it gives them to have someone to talk and laugh with. People become friends not just clients. An altogether satisfying role to have.” BB

This is a free service.  To make a referral, or enquire for yourself, please ring either Benedict Potts or Beryl Swift at CARM on 01233 758122, or click the link below to send an email.
