THE MENTORING AND BEFRIENDING FOUNDATION
The team at CARM is delighted that Well-Being at Home has successfully been awarded
‘Approved Provider Standard’ with The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation (MBF). This accreditation means our
befriending service has met the rigorous standards set out by MBF, meeting the key management and operational requirements
of the standard, and delivers a quality service to volunteers and service users. Participants can be assured we are running
a safe and effective befriending service, using best practice guidance. Accreditation is valid for three years and means we
can use the MBF logo on all our promotional material. Approved Provider Standard is an accepted benchmark by funding bodies
and will help with future funding applications. So congratulations to Beryl and Benedict for all their hard work in putting
the evidence together!

DEMENTIA PILOT IN SHEPWAY AND ASHFORD
CARM works in partnership with Shepway and Ashford Volunteer Centres to deliver
the Dementia Project, a service for people with dementia. Funded through Social Services the Project covers two services
and aims to reduce isolation and improve the well-being of people with dementia in the community as well as those in residential
care. The Befriending Service provides volunteers to visit people with dementia in their homes on a one-to-one
basis to provide companionship through a “cup of tea and a chat.” The Our Memories Matter (OMM) Project
offers reminiscence sessions in residential and day care centres that focus on dementia. The sessions, run by volunteer teams,
encourage residents to communicate and interact with one another using “memory triggers” to stimulate discussion.
